The Environmental Indicator’s database houses environmental indicators to help support environmental monitoring and reporting.
These indicators are split across different themes, including atmosphere and climate, biodiversity and ecosystem health, land, inland water, and marine and coastal. Information is drawn from the Department of Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment, and the South African National Biodiversity Institute.
Using the different themes, this webtool generates reports on specific topics, such as South Africa’s carbon dioxide emissions and the state of the air pollution in South Africa’s air quality priority areas, for example. The indicator reports include references for the reader to follow.
